About Me

Hi, I'm Jennie, welcome to Tierra Made Pottery!

My journey started when my husband gave me the best birthday gift I never knew I needed: an 8-week pottery course.

Pottery has taught me patience in a way nothing else has. For every piece that comes off the wheel looking the way I imagined, there are many more that collapse, crack, or just don't make it. I've learned to see those "failures" as opportunities for growth.

Some of my work is inspired by my Mexican roots, you'll see it in the warm terra cotta colors, the earthy greens, and shapes.

My Process:

Every one of my pieces starts as a lump of clay, centered on the wheel and shaped by hand before drying and trimming. Then it's fired, glazed, and fired again. The result is pieces durable enough for daily use, each carrying subtle variations that reflect the handmade process.

My Favorites

  • Music to throw to: Bad Bunny, Natalia Lafourcade, Julieta Venegas
  • Shape to make: Mugs and Pots/Planters
  • Clay body: Speckled Brown
  • Glaze: Moss Green
  • Coffee order: Iced Vanilla Late (bonus points if it's in a handmade mugs!)
